Welcome to our Heritage Day Schedule. We are hoping to see as many of you at our special activities and displays as possible. We have packed plenty into the day, so there should be something that will appeal -

"With God's Permission..." A new book on Ryedale's whaling connection and a chance to speak to one of the authors Gordon Clitheroe from the Beck Isle Museum.

The Boon Hill Brigade - The story of Kirkbymoorside's Royal Observer Corps by group member Ann Wilson

Nicholas Piper and the Blombergs - Snippets from Kirby Misperton Hall's past

Kirkbymoorside's War Memorial - The story of the men recorded on the War Memorial from WWI and WWII by group member Rita Gibson

There will also be a Spinning display ,lace-making, paper-making, quilting,

A special 20 min presentation of paper cleaning and conservation will start at 10am by Katherine Gold

    

Town Walks & Talks

  • 10.30 am - A gentle guided walk taking in the buildings and their stories setting off from The Lemon Tree and lasting approximately 1 hour. 
  •  6 pm - An evening walk around the town to discover some of the more gruesome aspects of the town’s past. 1 hour.

  •  2 pm & 7 pm - Stories in dialect with Judy Barker in the Chapel
  •  7.30 pm - Slideshow with Robin Butler in the Chapel.

We will also be launching our first  Friends of Kirkby History Group newsletter, which will come out three times a year to keep our supporters aware of what events and projects we are working on. Come and see what the group is doing...

This event has been organised by the Kirkbymoorside History Group, dedicated to recording and preserving our town’s often hidden and forgotten past. Please help us maintain and catalogue our town’s history.
